We want to thank all participants for a great camp. We ran a total of 12 tough training sessions and all players participated in all sessions. This is very unique for a group of 32 players.
Here are some general points that we reflected on and think are important to work on at home:
- Something we often talk about is striving to move your feet first, trying to find a good position and playing the shot in balance. A lot of players start hitting too early and then get much worse timing.
- Try to hit forehand and backhand equally far forward on the same "line". Many players stress too much with the backhand and take the ball too far forward and then in the forehand you get so much power from behind that the hit is late. Strive to hit forehand and backhand about equally.
- Use your best shots/sides as much as you can, adjusting your serve and return game to use your strengths as often as possible.
In addition to the tough training, we had two nice evenings at the activity center in Söderhamn where the participants could play mini tennis, various computer games, shuffleboard, watch movies, billiards and much more. The days during the week were very hot at the end so we took the opportunity to go swimming between the sessions one of the days.
We hope all participants are as happy with the camp as we are! Please feel free to spread the information about the summer camp to your ping pong friends so that more people have the opportunity to participate next summer.
